SC Pilates · Strength & Conditioning

Strength & Conditioning Pilates — the rehab-grade studio class.

Our most clinically-led pilates class. Mixed equipment, small numbers, prescribed by physios. SC Pilates is where people land when generic gym work isn’t cutting it for a specific injury, post-op recovery or chronic condition.

It’s pilates with a clinical reasoning layer on top.

SC Pilates uses the full studio kit — reformer, trapeze table, Wunda chair, springs and resistance bands — but the exercises in your program are picked by a physio based on what your body actually needs. Not a class plan that everyone does together.

The combination is what makes it work for rehab. You’re in a group setting (motivating, social, sustainable long-term), but the load and progression are individual. Old back injury? You’re doing different work to the person on the next reformer.

Class size is capped at four to six. That’s the maximum we can supervise properly with a physio rather than a generic instructor.

Who this class suits

Six situations where SC Pilates earns its place.

It’s not for everyone — if you just want a workout, Reformer or Mat is better value. SC is for when you need the clinical layer.

01
Post-surgical rehab
Knee, hip, shoulder, spine surgery — the structured studio work that bridges hospital physio and back-to-normal life.
02
Chronic back or neck pain
Pain that’s been treated with hands-on physio and now needs the loading work to actually fix it. SC is where the loading happens.
03
Hypermobility & instability
Loose joints that hurt — SC is the class that builds the control without making things worse. Mat and gym work often do the opposite.
04
Post-natal core & pelvic floor
Once you’ve done a few rounds of Mom & Bubs and are ready for proper loading. We progress you carefully.
05
Sports-specific rehab
Returning to running, lifting, golf, surf or netball after a long lay-off. The accessory work that bridges the gym and the sport.
06
Chronic condition management
Osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, post-cancer recovery — supervised loading that respects the condition rather than ignoring it.
Getting started

Three steps from booking to your first class.

01
Initial assessment.
A 45-minute one-on-one with our physio to map out what your body needs and which class is the right starting point. Required before joining any class — it’s how we keep the small groups safe and effective.
02
First class with the same physio.
Your first SC Pilates class is with the physio who did the assessment, so they can correct technique and progress load in real time. Numbers are kept small — usually four to six people max.
03
Progress through the levels.
Once you’ve got the foundations, you move into our regular SC Pilates timetable. We update your program every four to six weeks so the difficulty keeps pace with your strength.
Common questions

SC Pilates questions we get asked.

01 Do I need a referral?
No referral needed for SC Pilates. If you have a GP GPCCMP plan, DVA card or accepted WorkCover/NDIS claim, sessions can be funded under those schemes — bring the paperwork to your assessment and we’ll work out the billing.
02 Can I claim SC Pilates on my private health extras?
Yes — SC Pilates is run by our physios and is claimable as physiotherapy on most extras. We HICAPS your fund at the front desk, you only pay the gap.
03 Do I need to be fit or flexible to start?
No — SC is specifically designed for people who aren’t fit, flexible or confident in the gym. We meet you where you are and progress from there. Many of our members started SC because everything else hurt.
04 What should I wear and bring?
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Bring water and a small towel. Grip socks are useful but not required — we have spares if you forget.
05 How often should I come?
Most people start twice a week for the first six to eight weeks (where the strength gains compound), then drop to once or twice depending on goals and budget. Some members stay at twice a week long-term because it’s the bit that keeps the pain quiet.
06 Can I switch to another class later?
Absolutely — the physio will steer you in or out of different classes as your needs change. Many members rotate through Mat, Reformer and SC Pilates depending on what they’re working on at the time.
