Affordable Podiatry · Gold Coast

Bulk-billed podiatry on the Gold Coast — what we offer instead.

Honest answer up front: we don’t bulk-bill podiatry. The Medicare rebate doesn’t cover the kind of unhurried, thorough care our clinic is built around. What we do offer: concession-card discounts, the Medicare GPCCMP rebate applied to your fee, HICAPS through every major fund, and direct billing for DVA, accepted WorkCover claims and self/plan-managed NDIS — so most patients pay considerably less than the headline fee.

Why we don’t bulk-bill podiatry.

The Medicare GPCCMP rebate for podiatry sits around the low-sixty-dollar mark per session. A proper first podiatry assessment at our clinic runs thirty minutes — history, biomechanical assessment, footwear review, skin and nails, treatment plan and report back to your GP. That work costs more than the rebate.

A clinic that bulk-bills has to make the rebate cover the visit. In practice that usually means shorter appointments, fewer treatment options offered, and less of the assessment work that catches the underlying cause of foot problems. We’d rather charge a fair fee for thorough care than rush the consultation to fit a smaller rebate.

The fee at the desk is rarely what you pay though — most of our patients access at least one of the subsidy pathways below.

How to reduce your podiatry costs at Ace

Six ways patients lower the out-of-pocket cost.

One or more of these applies to most of the people who come through our doors. Bring the relevant card or paperwork to the first appointment and we apply it at the desk.

01
Concession card discount
Pensioner Concession Card, Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, Health Care Card, DVA Pensioner, and full-time student concession holders get a discounted podiatry rate at our clinic. Just bring the card to the appointment.
02
Medicare GPCCMP rebate
If your GP has put you on a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan, the Medicare rebate (around $63 per session) is deducted from our fee at the desk. Up to five rebated sessions per calendar year.
03
HICAPS private health rebate
If you have private health extras that include podiatry, we HICAPS your fund instantly at the front desk. You only pay the gap — usually a fraction of the standard fee.
04
DVA Gold & White Card
Veterans with DVA cover pay nothing out of pocket. We bill DVA directly at the fee schedule. No referral needed for Gold Card; White Card needs the accepted-condition documentation.
05
Self & plan-managed NDIS
If your NDIS plan is self-managed or plan-managed, podiatry is funded through your plan. We invoice direct to your plan manager. NDIA-managed plans need a registered provider (we’re not).
06
WorkCover accepted claims
If your foot or lower-limb injury has been accepted under WorkCover, we bill the insurer directly. No gap. Bring the claim number and Workers’ Compensation Medical Certificate.
How the discount or rebate is applied

Three steps from booking to a reduced fee.

01
Check what you’re eligible for.
A two-minute call. We work out whether you have a concession card, a GPCCMP plan, private health extras, DVA/NDIS/WorkCover cover, or some combination — and tell you roughly what the out-of-pocket cost looks like.
02
Bring the documentation.
Whatever applies: concession card, GPCCMP referral and plan, private health card, DVA card, NDIS plan summary, WorkCover claim. We verify and file the details at reception before the appointment starts.
03
Reduced fee at the desk.
The discount or rebate is applied at payment. Some combine (e.g. concession card plus GPCCMP rebate). The receipt shows the full fee and what you actually paid, so there are no surprises.

What a thirty-minute podiatry visit covers.

First visit is thirty minutes. Comprehensive history, footwear review, biomechanical assessment, skin and nail care, treatment plan, and (if you’re on a GPCCMP) the initial report that goes back to your GP — that’s a Medicare requirement, not extra paperwork.

Return visits are typically thirty minutes too, more focused on the active treatment for your specific issue. Same room, same podiatrist where we can arrange it.

If you’re looking for routine nail care only and the fee is the issue, ask about our shorter maintenance appointment. We’ll always be upfront with you about cost before you book.

Questions we get asked

Common cost-of-podiatry questions.

01 Do you bulk-bill podiatry?
No. We charge a standard fee for podiatry consultations. The Medicare GPCCMP rebate (around $63 per session) can be deducted from the fee if your GP has put you on a GPCCMP plan, which means you pay only the gap. We also offer concession-card discounts. So while the headline answer is “no bulk-billing”, most patients pay substantially less than the full fee.
02 What’s the GPCCMP rebate worth?
Currently around $63 per allied-health session under the Medicare GPCCMP program (item 10962 for podiatry). The exact figure changes each July when Medicare updates the fee schedule. We deduct it from our fee at the desk if you have an active GPCCMP and the referral covers podiatry.
03 What does the concession-card discount actually save me?
It varies by the level of cover and the specific card. Pensioner Concession Cards, Health Care Cards, Commonwealth Seniors Health Cards and full-time student concessions all qualify. Ring us with your card details and we’ll quote the exact concession rate.
04 Can I combine discounts?
Some combinations stack. For example, you can use a Medicare GPCCMP rebate and claim the gap through your private health extras (though the same item can’t be claimed twice). Concession discounts and HICAPS rebates can also combine. We work out the cheapest path for you at the desk.
05 How does this compare to a bulk-billing podiatry clinic?
Bulk-billing clinics are paid only the Medicare rebate, so they fit appointments into shorter slots and focus on routine nail and skin care. We do longer, full-assessment appointments and offer a broader scope (laser, shockwave, custom orthotics, paediatrics). If your need is purely routine nail care and cost is the dominant factor, a bulk-billing clinic is a reasonable choice. For anything more complex, the thorough visit usually saves you money long-term.
06 What if I genuinely can’t afford the fee?
Talk to us. Between concession discounts, GPCCMP rebates and shorter maintenance appointments, we can usually get you something affordable. We’d rather have a conversation about cost than have someone go without foot care they need.
