Private Health Funds · HICAPS on the spot

Use your private health cover at Ace Health Centre on the Gold Coast.

We HICAPS every major Australian fund directly at the front desk — your rebate is processed instantly, you only pay the gap (if any), and you never see a claim form. Podiatry, physiotherapy, exercise physiology, remedial massage and clinical pilates are all claimable.

How HICAPS actually works at our desk.

Bring your physical or digital health-fund card to your appointment. After the visit we swipe it through HICAPS at the front desk, and your fund’s rebate posts to your card instantly. The amount your fund covers depends on your level of extras and how much of your annual limit you’ve already used elsewhere.

The gap (the difference between our fee and the rebate) is settled on the spot by card or contactless. We’ll show you both numbers on the receipt before you pay — no surprises, no waiting for cheques in the mail.

Forgot your card? Not a problem — we can look up your membership from your name and date of birth. It just adds a minute to the front-desk side of things.

Questions we get asked

Common billing questions.

01 Which billing path is right for me?
Ring us and we’ll work it out together in two minutes. The short version: if you have a chronic condition and a GP plan, GPCCMP bulk-billing is best (no gap). Otherwise, private health extras via HICAPS for most people, with DVA/NDIS/WorkCover where they apply.
02 Can I combine Medicare and private health for the same visit?
No — you can’t double-dip. A single session is either bulk-billed under Medicare GPCCMP or rebated through your private fund, not both. We pick whichever leaves you better off and tell you up front.
03 Will I have to fill in claim forms?
No. Whichever billing path you’re on, we handle the paperwork end-to-end. HICAPS submits private health claims instantly; Medicare GPCCMP and DVA claims are submitted electronically by us after each visit.
04 Do I need a GP referral?
For private health rebates: no. For Medicare GPCCMP bulk-billing: yes, as part of the GPCCMP plan. For DVA: no (the card is your referral). For NDIA-managed NDIS: yes (and we can’t take you anyway). For WorkCover: yes, indirectly, via the Workers’ Compensation Medical Certificate.
05 When does my private extras limit reset?
Most Australian funds reset on 1 January each calendar year. A handful (HCF, some Defence Health policies) reset on policy anniversary instead. Ring your fund or check their portal to be sure.
06 Can my support coordinator, carer or family book for me?
Yes. Anyone authorised can call us, email us or use our online booking form. We’ll confirm the appointment back to both you and them.
