Injury Rehab Physio · Acute to return-to-sport

Injury rehabilitation physiotherapy on the Gold Coast.

Hands-on treatment plus structured return-to-activity rehab for sports, work and life injuries. Whether it’s a sprained ankle, post-surgical knee, recurrent low back, or anything in between — we build the plan that gets you back to what you were doing before the injury.

What good injury rehab actually looks like.

Most injuries follow a predictable pattern: acute phase (settle the pain, protect the tissue), sub-acute phase (start moving and loading), strengthening phase (rebuild capacity), and return-to-activity phase (test the body under the demands of the sport, job or activity you’re going back to).

Where rehab usually goes wrong is in the last two phases. People stop coming when the pain settles — before the actual rebuilding work is done. Six months later the injury comes back. We map out the full timeline at the start and tell you what each phase requires.

For sports injuries we work alongside the team physio, coach or trainer where relevant. For work injuries (including WorkCover claims) we coordinate with the case manager. For surgical patients, we follow the surgeon’s protocol from day one.

Common injuries we rehab

Six injury types we see most.

The injury patterns that come through the door most often — sport, work, life. Each follows the same general rehab framework adapted to the specifics.

01
Ankle sprains and recurrent instability
From acute lateral sprain through full return to cutting sport. Includes the proprioceptive work that prevents the next one.
02
ACL and other knee surgeries
Post-surgical rehab from week one through full return to sport. We coordinate with the surgeon’s protocol throughout.
03
Low back injuries
Acute discogenic pain, facet joint sprains, sacroiliac dysfunction, recurrent flares. Hands-on plus loading is the evidence-based approach.
04
Shoulder injuries and surgeries
Rotator cuff, labral repairs, dislocations, frozen shoulder. Specific protocols for each, often months not weeks.
05
Hamstring and calf tears
Acute muscle injuries common in running sports. Loading-led rehab with specific reintroduction-to-running protocols.
06
Concussion and head injuries
Vestibular and oculomotor rehabilitation as part of post-concussion recovery. Working alongside neuro and sports medicine where needed.
How we approach it

Three steps from first visit to outcome.

01
Assessment.
A 45-minute initial assessment. Mechanism of injury, current symptoms, functional limitations, imaging if relevant. We then map out the full rehab timeline and explain what each phase requires.
02
Treatment plan.
Hands-on treatment in the acute phase, loaded rehab as soon as it’s safe to introduce it. We progress load and complexity based on how the tissue is responding, not on calendar dates.
03
Review and progression.
Return-to-activity testing before discharge — can you actually do the thing you injured yourself doing, without symptoms? If yes, you’re done. If no, we keep working.
