• Hard 3D custom Orthotics are usually made from a firm material such as nylon, polypropylene, carbon fibre or firm EVA. They tend to be a lot more durable, and supportive than softer options. However, we don’t really prescribe soft orthotics for general use unless you have a deformity or a high-risk vascular issue.

We 3D print our Hard 3D Custom Orthotics from a Nylon material. This is durable, has excellent flex properties, can be fully customised with thickness, widths, graphics and more.

3D printing the Hard nylon orthotics has reduced waste costs by up to 90% and has all recyclable products. This currently makes it the most eco-friendly way to produce orthotics.

Although these are hard orthotics, the firm base can have extra layers of cushioning put over them. This creates a firm, supportive, cushioned, durable orthotic. This is the recommended model to go to for most clients.

  • This will be down to your assessment. Our Gold Coast podiatrists will take into account your foot structure, shoes, flooring, medical history, durability, support needed, weight and much more. They carefully assess whether you need Hard 3D custom Orthotics (polypropylene / nylon) or soft (Ethyl, Vinyl, Acetate, EVA) orthotics.

The shell then can be altered to add more flex, or covers added to create a softer experience on a more supportive firm base.

  • Call us to find out whether our hard 3D custom orthotics are covered by your private health care provider. Check your level of cover, waiting periods, annual limits and fund rules prior to your visit at our Gold Coast clinics to avoid unwanted, expensive surprises.

Some private health funds will allow you to have Hard 3D custom Orthotics every year. This means you can keep them uptodate, and sets for other shoes.
