Dress 3D Orthotics · Slim profile

Custom dress orthotics for heels, flats & formal shoes.

Slim, low-profile orthotics designed to fit in shoes that everyday orthotics can’t. For people who can’t wear sneakers to work, who live in heels or flats, or who need orthotic support in a shoe that won’t accommodate a standard shell.

Why dress orthotics are a different design problem.

Most dress shoes — women’s heels, low-profile flats, men’s formal lace-ups — don’t have removable insoles or any vertical space for a standard orthotic shell. Putting an everyday orthotic in those shoes either doesn’t fit or pushes the foot up and out so the shoe doesn’t close.

A dress orthotic solves the geometry problem by being significantly thinner (often 2-3mm at its thinnest point) and shorter (three-quarter length rather than full length). It loses some of the correction range of a full orthotic, but it gives meaningful support in shoes that would otherwise have none.

For people who can’t avoid heels and dress shoes — lawyers, executives, hospitality staff in dress code, dancers, weddings and formal events — this is the orthotic that lets you keep wearing the shoes without paying for them later.

Who dress orthotics suit

Six situations where dress orthotics earn their place.

Dress orthotics are a specific tool for a specific problem — supporting feet in shoes that won’t accept normal orthotics.

01
Work in dress code
Lawyers, real-estate agents, hospitality, banking, corporate environments. Where sneakers aren’t an option but support still matters.
02
Heel-wearers with foot pain
Women who wear heels regularly and are paying for it. Dress orthotics inside the heel reduce forefoot pressure and arch fatigue.
03
Dancers and performers
Ballroom, swing, contemporary — situations where the shoe is the costume. Slim orthotics provide support that doesn’t change the look or the feel.
04
Pairing with everyday orthotics
Most patients use these as a second pair alongside their everyday orthotics — everyday in the work shoes, dress in the dress shoes.
05
Mortonr’s neuroma in narrow shoes
Forefoot offloading designed to fit in low-profile shoes. Targets the neuroma area without making the shoe unwearable.
06
Plantar fasciitis maintenance
Once acute fasciitis is settled, dress orthotics let you wear less-supportive shoes occasionally without symptoms returning.
How we make them

Three steps from your first scan to your first wear.

01
Biomechanical assessment.
60-minute appointment with a podiatrist. We assess your gait, your foot mechanics, your footwear and the symptoms driving you to consider orthotics. If orthotics aren’t the right answer, we’ll tell you that.
02
3D scan, custom design.
A handheld 3D scan combined with a discussion of which shoes you wear. We design the orthotic to fit those specific shoe profiles, balancing support with the slim form factor required. Australian-made from durable thin-profile materials.
03
Fit, wear-in, review.
Orthotics arrive in about two weeks. We fit them, confirm they sit right in your shoes, and book a six-week review to check how they’re wearing and how your feet are responding. Adjustments included in the original price.
Common questions

dress orthotics questions we get asked.

01 Do I need a GP referral?
No. For private extras you can book directly. For Medicare GPCCMP, DVA or NDIS funding the relevant referral or plan is needed — bring it to the assessment and we’ll bill the scheme directly.
02 Can I claim them on private health?
Yes, on extras policies that include orthotics — the rebate level varies between funds. We HICAPS the rebate at the time of fitting. Bring your card.
03 How long do they last?
Two to four years on the shell, shorter on the top cover. Because dress orthotics are thinner, they wear faster than full-thickness orthotics with the same usage.
04 Will they fit in my shoes?
Designed for low-profile shoes, heels (up to about a 5cm heel comfortably, more is possible but reduces effectiveness), ballet flats, dress lace-ups, work loafers. Bring two or three pairs of your most-worn shoes to the appointment for fitting.
05 How long until they’re comfortable?
A few days to a week. Faster break-in than everyday orthotics because the support level is lower — the trade-off built into the design.
06 What if they hurt or don’t feel right?
Come back. Adjustments are included in the price. The orthotic should be doing work, but it shouldn’t be causing pain — if it is, we can heat-mould, grind down, or rebuild a section until it’s right.
